Hot Toys - Han Solo and Chewbacca
« on: October 26, 2015, 07:34:04 PM »

Just wanted to share my first 6th scale experience with Hot Toys... Freaking Amazing!!!! Han Solo is spot on and Chewbacca even though I was worried it would be just a big ball of fluff is even better! I can't wait to get Luke and Leia and I hope they release an ESB or ROJ Vader cause I'll be all over that too. If anyone's on the fence about these figures buy now quick! Cheers.

About Chewie... I have one coming to me as well and I'm quite anxious to see how it turned out. I mean, there were so much negative comments on the likeliness on FB on various sites. I know most people who got it finally are saying it's way better than anticipated, but then again, who would admit not being satisfied after paying 250$ if not more on such a product? Opinions can be so biased when you're spending so much on an item, it's not like we would fully acknowledge our disappointment, we try to convince ourselves we did the right thing, right?  :-\

Anyway, I have plans to display this figure with my Hoth Han, Tauntaun and Luke Hoth and will try to fluff his hair as much as possible like his caught in a snowstorm.  :tongue0024:

Yes these were insanely expensive especially due to the exchange rate right now. However I don't think my reaction was because of that. I really was worried that Chewie wouldn't turn out properly, but they did an awesome job with the fur. It is easy to 'style' if you will and even comes with a special comb to keep it in place. Feels kinda weird to comb an action figure but it is what it is.

Pics as requested. Comparison with my Medicom C-3PO and R2-D2.

Well you are stuck doing it because as weird as that may be how weird would the conversation be asking someone else to brush your wookiee! :~/~:

I would have no problem helping another collector groom his Wookie.  :o

I saw this pair on an online retailer for $479.  :sign0065: Is this the retail price for these ? Are these the latest replacement for the gentle giant stuff? What materials are they made of ?

WOW.  :o :)` Chewie really looks amazing. This is by far the best picture I've seen of this toy. The head is way better than I expected. So much better. And I kinda assumed I would need to comb his hair and fur, at least to shape the look to a movie-accurate setting.

I really look forward to getting mine now!!!  :D

I'd never let someone else comb my wookie! lol! Out of the box the fur sticks out a bit so you do need to comb it a bit to smooth it out. I think bad grooming could be a reason for some of the bad pics out there, cause this mold to me is spot on.

And that's US, so add another 30% for the loonie. Then add taxes and shipping...

Hot Toys are insanely expensive, but some would argue worth every cent.

Its always subjective and dependant on your budget, I can remember people saying I was nuts buying some of the Attakus and MR stuff years ago.

Yes I know I'm insane for spending that much money on them. However this is my first star wars purchase this year so compared to what I used to spend on 3 3/4, unleashed, vehicles, etc, etc. I'm still under budget. Just a matter of changing my focus from armies of small to a few large. On that note still looking to unload a lot of 3 3/4 figs, see the buy and sell section here for what I have.
