by Greg Rucka, of Marvel Comics (and other projects I'm sure) fame. This small book features stories about our new 3 favourites (Poe, Finn & Rey) leading up to the events of the movie. I'll give it a quick read & posts my thoughts - only 215 page.

Hate to post back to back, but I wanted it to be apparent I had updated. Without spoiling anything, I've read 2 of the 3 stories & will provide one line about each below. Very inspecific so as not to spoil what IS there, but I would hate to have someone purchase it in hopes of reading something that ISN'T in the book.

Finn - Focuses mainly on his mindset as his training reaches conclusion ("one of these things is not like the others").

Rey - while out scavenging, our heroine finds something special (NOT a backstory piece, nothing in terms of new info about who she is or where she came from).

Poe - in (by far) the most engaging section of the book, Republic Commander Poe Dameron encounters the First Order & forms the opinion they are more than just an empty threat. I would almost call this chunk a "must read" - it would have made an absolutely brilliant hour-long prequel TV episode.

Just finally got to read this while I was on my trip. I enjoyed all 3 stories, although Poe's was the longest and, perhaps as a result, the best of the 3.

I did like how, in Finn's story, it gives us a bit more background that explains why Finn may have had the reaction he did, but also how he is a highly skilled individual (top of his class, etc.). I don't remember if it has been specifically revealed, but after reading it, my assumption is that the trooper who smeared his blood on Finn's helmet before dying was FN-2003 AKA Slip?

Yeah when I saw it again last night I assumed that he would be one of the other squad mates but obviously the film works without it too, you can just assume that's "another stormtrooper that recognizes Finn and knows he deserted". But much more fun to recognize the tie-in!
