Stickers for Vintage Death Star
« on: September 08, 2003, 07:44:01 PM »

Hi!

I recently picked up a vintage boxed Death Star Space Station on eBay.  The seller promised that he had all of the decals but it turns out there were only 2!!  The station is in great shape but lets just say I was quite unhappy at the lack of decals.  What are my chances of picking these up somewhere?  Near zero??  :'(

Thanks,
Monmothma

You can check here for "copies" http://www.erikstormtrooper.com/playsetstickers.htm

Although some may frown upon repro stickers
Chances are slim you will find original and if you do it will cost you.

If you want it  as an original vintage set then you should just leave it as it is

Thanks guys for the info!  I don't know if I can break down and use repro stickers ... we'll see!  I do have the mangled remains of the death star I owned as a kid so maybe I can transfer a few stickers from there.

THanks again :)

Im in a similar pickle with a vintage Falcon, so I appreciate the links. Can anyone recommend a type of adhesive paper to print them off on? Would they have it at Staples or do you have to go elsewhere? Thanks for any info!

i haven't tried it yet but i'd use the stickers from the new falcon. put em on the old one, kinda like a vintage modern thing.
i have a vintage shell, bare naked but i used the stickers i had for the new one.

The whole thing's been a bit of a pisser..... I bought the ship from a friend complete with a well-worn box (what I was really after). I had planned to just leave it all in there, but I don't have a new Falcon and quickly got the ship out on display. I need a few pieces that the friend is still looking for (radar dish, top quad-laser, ramp struts, etc, etc) but the plastic I have is all intact. The stickers were very dry, and every time I move her, some more fall off. What I'd like to do is figure out a way to clean the whole thing (like actually wash it, the guy who sold it to me was a smoker), get all the stickers off, and start with a new sheet from scratch. Somehow there's a way, and if/when I get it done I'll post how in here.
