I could carealess if TRU closes. Their selection is pure crap and as blink 182 stated above, their overpriced. When they do happen to get new stuff, employees grab it for their friends or end up scalping it on eBay.

The link you posted is gone, i really doubt that thay are selling tru... if they did its like closing the best store in the world. Its been around for a long time and i think it would be a shame to close it. It is a little more expensive but i wouldnt complain if i had to pay an extra dollar to pick up that fig that i really wanted. im hoping your lead is b.s.

TRU was and still is a publicly traded organization which answers to who knows how many board members as well as share holders...they wont be shutting down stores anytime soon unless they can get all of them to agree to it and that would not make any sense...why purchase a business only to shut it down????  They will most likely start streamlining the business and making changes to the way it is run, the stock that is carried, the shipping...ect...and try to make it more profitable.  Perhaps some stores may close but Im sure others will open...I think TRU will be around for a quite a while longer!

True kinda but this thing has bin talked about for over a year now so all of that may already in place.  I know mangers and staff were talking about it christmas 2003.  If hasbro was smart they should just open there own stores and sell there stuff.

No, I know that some stores are abandoning Babies R Us, but do your research.

TRU has 4 types of stores in the US, and they are still 2nd in Toys in Canada, only recently usurped by Wally World.

They're not completely shutting down, that's a load of bologna.

TRU is definately NOT abandoning is Babies R Us Stores....The "Baby" Merchandise market is SOOOO BIG right now and it is way more profitable than the "Toys" side of the business.

I was a bit wrong in my previous post...TOYS R US will not be totally publicly owned and traded after sometime this year....an investment company now owns TRU (Global) and has a 49% share in TRU Canada (I think...hard to remember all the details Ive heard)

I dont think a company that buys up TRU Global as an investment, would turn around and close all the stores down...not much of an investment if it cant make you money...

My guess would be that if we were to see any closures it will be certain stores that arent performing that well or are in such a saturated competitive market that they are having a hard time competing...

I dont think your going to see Babies R Us disappearing AT ALL...its way more profitable that Toys R Us...if anything...We will probably see MORE Babies R Us springing up, especially in large Urban areas...

Thats my 2 cents...

I wasn't clear before.

Some stores are dropping Babies R Us because they are building entire Babies R Us's in the nearby area.

Babies R Us is being expanded out of store, not entirely removed from an area.

Sorry about the mix-up.
