Hi fellow collectors....I traveled north this weekend to the cottage and passed by the Barrie North Walmart as they had 33 of the 42 Retro figures in stock and figured I could pick up a set for another fellow collector looking for them. When I got there, all 7 Boba Fetts were gone....so out of the 9 missing figures from the display, all 7 Boba Fetts gone. I picked up the other 5 which brought the total number down to 28 on stock tracker. So I'm here to call out the person who bought up all 7 Boba Fetts, you should be ashamed of yourself. If anyone sees Boba Fetts on ebay from the Barrie or Orillia area, ...or surrounding area, don't buy them. Sorry kids...but it pisses me off! So if you are reading this Mr/Ms Scalper...I wish you all the worst of luck in the near future.

In fact...anyone selling these on ebay within Canada at inflated prices, as they just came out recently in limited display quantities, should be ashamed. Don't buy them off eBay guys!

Everywhere I went in the Montreal area, all Boba Fetts were also gone, everywhere except at one location where I happened to go at first time in the morning after they had just set up the display (I looked at StockTrack for several days and saw stocks gradually appearing in stores in my area). I managed to get 2 Boba Fett for myself (1 to open, 1 MOC). But that's it. Each and every location I went to after that: nada. All the figures where in place EXCEPT the Boba Fetts.

Some guys are worthless s**t and idiots. We knew it would happen. It's disgusting. I'm foreseeing many sellers in the next few Toy Shows will try to sell these at inflated prices. I'm not gonna refrain myself to tell them what I think of these slimy A-H. No kidding: I've lost my father, my sister and my wife recently due to cancer. My tolerance for this kinda stuff is zero to none nowadays and I'm not afraid telling these creeps what they really think they are in front of everyone.

I just don't get the 2m distancing. Wear a mask, gloves, suits and you could reduce that distancing quite considerably. authorities are simply too lame and lack leadership to do that. What do people do in subways, buses, etc?

Anyway. Been waiting for 1 month for a package that usually takes 10 days to get here. You figured that USPS would be even worse than Canada Post. Well no. Packages coming from the USA get to Mississauga in 2 days even from California! But once they get to Mississauga, you're in for at least 10 days before it's even being looked at by Customs, then at least 2 weeks before it's put in a van by Canada Post. Then at least 2 weeks in transit time where ever you need it to go.

Again, my question: WHY DO THINGS MOVE NORMALLY IN THE USA BUT NOT IN CANADA?

Just saying. Comparing ourselves may be the key to improve matters.

Hoth rebel trooper is slated to come in a later wave according to the yakface.com list. And I'm pretty sure hasbro said that any new figure done on the 40th packaging will also come in a box later. Not sure if R2 qualifies as new though.

I'm pretty sure most if not all the 40th Anniversary ESB figures will end up in the new packaging. Even the repacks (Leia Hoth, Han Bespin, Lando, AT-AT Driver). Hasbro have been masters at repackaging old figures. The BS line seems to follow the same path as all their other lines, if not even worse. To them, it's quite easy money. People are so much into packaging variations that they follow suit (look at TROS white box variants: people went nuts over these and the figures were the very same! Even at the steep price of 30$! And those carbonized versions? Another trick to get people to buy the same figure twice but with a new paint application: so, other REPAINTS!)

You wanna know why I'm so sure? Well, say Leia Hoth is labelled ESB-06. You think some will want to skip it because they already have her? But who would want to do that? Would you not want to complete the very nice side flowing artwork for ESB? Say 1-2 years from now, when these figures won't be around on the pegs, you'd feel sorry for skipping a few of these. Would you want to be missing a few boxes and not having a complete tapestry? Not having the complete lot will become torture for some collectors. We all need to ask ourselves why Hasbro chose to do that side artwork. Nothing's done without purpose in the toy industry. They will be able to make real easy money out of collectors who are all known to be obsessive grown ups with lots and lots of cash to spend...  :shakehead:

As Ackbar used to said, "It's a trap!"

As if it wasn't already obvious how insane that price is.... I bought a 4-pack of delicious Drumstick ice cream cones at my local supermarket last week. Cost was $4 for 4 cones.

So buying one retro-card ESB figure is equivalent to about 4.5 boxes of these cones or EIGHTEEN ice cream cones (we're talking vanilla flavour with a solid chocolate coating decorated with peanuts and caramel or creamy peanut butter center).

I'm a Star Wars fan, but I'd rather eat the 18 ice cream cones. Especially in this weather  :rollfloorlaffsmiley:

I AGREE!!! I need to check these specials, I want my Drumstick cones!!!!  :) :rollfloorlaffsmiley:

LOL It seems everytime I make a move, it creates something nice.

Managed to buy a good portion of the Retro ESB figures from WM US (obviously except Boba Fett), send them to a friend who will send them thru the border to me.

Then, 2 days later, they show up in Canadian WM stores. My friend confirmed that WM Canada was to receive a few of these... but I just couldn't take any chances I guess.

LOL  :tongue0024: :rollfloorlaffsmiley:

Not the first time I jinx myself. Been doing that over the last few years with numerous WM or TRU exclusive figures. I tell myself that it's me who's responsible for stuff to happen... jinxing myself so the mass can benefit in the end.  ;D

Okay, I'll probably end up paying a little less even with the exchange rate and the shipping... provided I'm not paying customs fees. I managed to grab 2 Fetts for myself, so I'm good now.

So... my apologies for the false alarm on these... looks like we'll be getting a truck load. But their prices... damn it... come one Walmart Canada, you're exaggerating a little bit. My guess is that you think they are the same type of products as TVC... but they're not...  ::)

How much are they at WM here?

Thanks

 :fett:

17.97$. Same as the TVC figures. INSANE.

My Troop Transport from Walmart sat on the truck unloaded at the Calgary UPS warehouse for 3 days after arriving in Calgary. Total delivery time was 12 days.

UPS is the worse. I ordered some Inkjet printing cartridges on May 9th from Amazon and the seller, based in Toronto, mailed them 3 days late, thus used UPS to "improve" delivery which was supposed to occur between Wednesday May 13th and Friday May 16th. He mailed them on Tuesday night May 12th. UPS has had the package in transit since then, but has been stalling on this and ever since that day. Everyday I receive a warning saying the delivery has been postpone to an unknown date. We're May 25th and I have yet to receive my package. It's been 16 days!!! It's a real nightmare. The seller should have used regular Canada Post. I would have my package now.  >:(

I don't really understand why they don't "go back to the well" & release nice versions of previously made figures to fatten out the line with greater frequency. There must at least 20 figures they could release "as is" on vintage cards we still need, let alone ones that would sell over & over & over every year or two like Vader & Tatooine Luke. The Jawa was NOT a good example of how to do this, though I was happy to finally get that card.  :speechless-smiley-004:

I think the Jawa was an excellent choice and I'm really puzzled why it didn't sell that well. I think it would have made more sense to release it with the Power Droid wave next Fall. I mean, the figure is nice, the cardback as well. Why was it warming the pegs at one point compared to other figures is a mystery for me, especially since most TVC collectors would want to have at least one for their MOC collection. Anyway...

I agree that Hasbro could give us so many repacks of wonderful previously released figures just for the heck of putting them on Vintage cardbacks. Although I would be thrilled to get some of these on nice cardbacks, we also need new stuff...

The Carbon Freezing Playset would be a nice addition, but at 60USD I wonder what exactly we'll be getting. I think it'll be way too small and incomplete. I would be just thrilled to get a nice floor pattern, to scale, to put it on my own diorama, but there's no way it'll reach the level of what I did myself, with the ceiling, the lighting, the detailing. But we'll see. Anything is way better than nothing IMHO. I want new stuff. The Barge, Skiff, Imperial Troop Transport and Rogue One Tank were really nice additions and I'd hate if Hasbro decided to stop there.

As for exclusives, these are real nightmare. Especially Walmart exclusives. Most TRU and Target stuff ends up here in Canada, but WM is the worse retailer for exclusive products in Canada. As for SDCC exclusives... they are a pain in the a$$. We always end up having to pay 2-3 times the normal selling price and it kills the hobby. I just don't get why Hasbro still keeps frustrating their customers with such elaborate schemes. Maybe because some employees benefit from the secondary market resell? Anyway...

Signed.

Although I really really doubt this will do anything.

I mean, what does it tell? Just that people would love to get many different new figures, a large variety like we used to get back 10-12 years.

Hasbro has said over and over again: "Hey collectors, switch to the REAL collectors line, the Black Series 6" figures!" They're trying so hard to make us believe that our beloved 3.75" line is not targetted at serious adult collectors, that these are a think of the past.

I was kinda shocked and angry two weeks ago when one of the key Hasbro SW Rep, during their Fan's First Youtube sessions, called the TVC line format the "heritage" format. Because it's linked to the first generation of SW toys back in the 70-80s.

To me, it tells a lot: they're really pushing harder and harder to put this line aside. Because it's "a thing of the past", and that nowadays serious collectors should all agree that the 6'' line is the best.

Sorry, but I'm not buying that at all. Being an adult, I honestly feel quite dumb already to buy small action figures. Now, trying to tell me that buying 6'' figures will make my hobby look more... serious and adult? Come on! Whenever I'm holding a 6'' figure I feel like a dumb grown up, I mean, the figure is so big, likeliness is not really there for any human character, and I feel like I'm holding a big huge crude toy meant for kids who does not have the fine motor skills and dexterity to handle small figures. At least, with the small figures, the size excuses smooth facial features and I can put them in some kind of display setting to reneact movie scenes.  With large figures, I'd just display them in rows on shelves or cabinets... which would make my collection look boring... and make me look quite silly to be honest. So, the 6'' figures being more collectors-oriented? Nah. Not buying that at all. I think Hasbro has got into the heads of so many people trying to convince them that it's okay to buy a 35$ toy because they're meant for adult, some actually finally believe these s**tty arguments...  :shakehead:

Anyway, about the petition, to me it's kinda a waste of time. It's yet again people whining to get what they want. Forgetting the fact that Hasbro is a toy company that exists to make money. So money speaks. It's the only langage they understand, like any other profits-making organisation. As collectors -- and consumers -- the only way to send Hasbro a clear message is to boost up sales of TVC line. To buy them at full retail price when they are on the pegs rather than wait for every penny you can save during clearance sales. And to redirect your purchases from all other lines to TVC...

Because when you buy those BS figures and TVC figures at the same time, what you are telling Hasbro is that they provide you with a good alternative. You'll remain a loyal customer even if they end up scrapping both the BS 6'' and TVC lines by feeding you with Hyperreal 8'' figures, 2.5'' Mission Series figures and Galaxy of Adventures 5'' figures. People who are buying these just boost up the sales numbers for each of these lines. So Hasbro understand that, even though you're complaining about the lack of TVC figures, you're still taking hard-earned money from your pockets and throwing it at them for whatever s**t they're making.

Basically, there's the real message (you buying their products, even those you don't really want and thus engrossing their sales and bottomline numbers), and then there's the background noise (you complaining about the lack of TVC figures). I strongly believe Hasbro, like all other companies, don't really care about this background noise...

So... waste of time. Still signed it, but I don't think our voices are being heard when people act incoherently and keeps buying stuff they don't really want...

Nice work!!   :)`

I would maybe use young Han Solo (VC124), a Knight of Ren (VC155) or even Luke Skywalker (X-Wing Pilot) (VC158) for the feet. These were not that hard to find... before the pandemic that is. Nowadays, different story. But you'd only need to sacrifice not so hard to find figures at least...

Scout Report / Re: Post Retail Finds of NEW PRODUCT Here!
« on: May 19, 2020, 10:31:35 AM »
Just caught a lone Cara Dune and 2 Remnant Troopers at my local WM. No sign of Mando nor the Clone Trooper. :-(

Stock is there at Hasbro's warehouse, but the retail stores just won't get them. In fact, most WM stores I visit do not even have the price tags for TVC on the pegs, merely BS, BS 40th anniversary crap and GoA junk. Nothing else. TVC seems available only at select location, probably because the store managers don't want to order them...

12
Thank you, Patrick, that will help me know which waves I "almost" found when I see one figure left on the pegs!

 :)`

One of the WM stores nearby has received at least 6 cases of the first wave and most are still warming the pegs after 2 weeks. The other store nearby only one box. Distribution is still an ongoing nightmare.

It's more than obvious that no one wants these. They are repacks and they are way to expensive. Figures with barely no accessories going for 30$ is way too much for many people. Star Wars is pretty much dead at retail and seeing all the Black Series figures always warming the pegs, much more than any TVC wave has done so far, is catastrophic. Despite all the bulls**t Hasbro is trying to pull on us, making us believe the 6'' line is successful and trying to force us to consider this as the "collectors" avenue, Black Series has been jamming the pegs everywhere I see them. They are the retail stores' nightmare, much worse than TPM TVC wave back in 2012. Even going at half the price, they still jam the pegs. Tehy are big, likeliness is deficient, lack the accessories... what's to love about these? Anyway... I feel SW is pretty much dead and seeing those BS clogging the pegs is not helping at all...

Yoda is still up & available too, not sure exactly which figures were with which waves though...

Seen the first ones at EBGames last February. Stuff for the trash can. I cannot believe Hasbro would release such crappy low quality toys. It shows they are shooting everywhere without any market plan. They just want to invade the toys aisles with all size of product to make sure it doesn't leave any room for competition. This is ridiculous...  ::)

One reason I have not been ordering off the EB website is that it doesn't apply my Edge discount, unlike when I buy in store. Someone told me now that it will be possible to ask for a discount refund in store with receipt once they open up again. Has anyone else heard this?

Yes, I tried it with a single Dark Crystal figure last Fall. It worked, but it was a pain in the a$$. The employee didn't know what to do, they had to wait for the store manager to get back from his lunch break. Then they applied the credit. What a waste of time. For 2$ off. But I wanted to prove a point that they should apply the discount directly on the website...
