Anyone know if EBGames will be getting that new Gamestop exclusive Imperial Rocket Trooper?

They  have been good at getting exclusives except for the actual Imperial Troops.  I don't think the Battlefront Tie Pilot ever made it here.

Hope the Rocket Trooper won't suffer that fate.

I hope so as well.  Though with the amount of exclusives in the 6' category this year, I might have to either plan a trip to Pennsylvania or rely on etailers to get some imported in.

Which is dumb. It's weird EBGames gets all kinds of other exclusives but sometime not their own.

Wouldn't surprise me. Pegs are so clogged with old stock in my local stores. I don't know when we'll see anything new. Vintage, black series, 5poa...  Doesn't matter the pegs are stuffed. TRU hasn't even been carrying new black series other than exclusives in over a year.

Could get harder and harder to collect in Canada at regular retail. Which means more expensive. I still rely on regular retail and their sale prices to offset the crazy high regular prices and the occasions I have to pay full price. Going full retail all the time becomes very expensive. Especially if you have to order from the US and pay shipping and maybe customs fees. I miss Legends since they were very reasonable and reliable.

There are great etailers out there. I don't want to turn this thread into that too much though  there are lots of threads here discussing individual e-tailers.

If you are collecting SW though you might have to get used to the idea that you'll no longer get "the thrill of the hunt", because after next year (lets say summer 2020) I think I would place bets that SW merchandise is gonna be a super small area or off the shelves at everywhere but TRU, and no telling when they'll get their crap together.

I understand the thrill, I do.  It took me a long time to realize that it's not worth it, for me, at least.

The problem for 3 3/4 collecting is that many etailers choose to avoid 3 3/4 (especially 5POA) because the margins are too slim on them.  So if they start to disappear from shelves and not on any etailers sites, that's going to suck.

It was down last night and this morning.  I suppose good time for it too, since there is essentially nothing new in Canada!

It should be automatic.  It's in the system.  Even if the price tag is still regular price, it should scan the sale price.

I got the Chewie for $5.  It's all about the sticker folks.

If they print up the $5 sticker and slap it on the exclusive, and *scan that sticker*, it's gonna be $5.
If they don't put that sticker on, and scan the regular code bar, it's gonna be $5 if it was supposed to be $5 and regular price if is was supposed to be regular price.

The great thing is (hopefully) that by clearing out the BS 6" at all these EB Games, there should be room for more to come in.

Gotta love EB Games.

Looks like another $50 figure, based on the box size.

Looks worth it, based on the figure!

So I thought I'd document a little what goes into making of these work.

Of main concern is how annoying the triangular picture and how annoying screenshots are of moving characters

So lets take a look at the Ezra Bridger picture I'm looking to do for that upcoming figure.  Here is the shot I'm using:

So first things first - you'll notice that this shot has his lightsaber-gun without his lightsaber lit.  This is actually perfect because the vast majority of the time Jedi/Sith characters are moving around with their lit lightsaber which causes a terrible motion blur on the pic that can't be undone.  Of course, we WANT a pic with his lightsaber lit, but since it's an effect - we'll you'll see below how easily that is fixed.

Now, let take a look that is a common problem with almost all these shots:

The black overlay here is the area that we have to work with.  If I shrink the area (proportionally) down, I'm gonna lose something.  Most importantly, we want his head about 2/3 of the way up the picture, and we want his lightsaber in frame.  That means making the frame about as big as you see here.

So, that means there is about 10% of the frame in a triangle at the top that simply doesn't exist. Something like 95% of the picture I've done I've had to deal with this, because most everything is a screen capture and the widescreen aspect ratio doesn't help (PS, Pan and Scan are just cut-off version of all SW widescreen films, so they wouldn't help either)

So, I simply draw it.  This is really, really easy when the picture is of sky or space or a flat wall or a blurry picture, but we are only so lucky on this picture - the ceiling has some detail, so I'll have to extend and fill in some of that detail.  Thankfully it's not super-detailed so I'll get away with a lot of grey.

And of course, I want the lightsaber - so:

And that's pretty much it.  In a lot of cases I have to "brighten" (it's a little more complicated than that) the image because printing requires greater contrast and brightening helps, but that's pretty much it - i cut out the framed area and import it into the vector-based drawing for the rest of the box.

And now you can see some of the work done to make one of these - you know, in case you thought it was easy ;)

No I gave up and I happened to be in the US in December and picked one up then.  I'm patient, but not that patient!

Cancelled, or only delivered some of your ties so far?
I ask this because tru shipped all my ties except one, which was shipped yesterday as a different parcel. I have already recieved the first parcel.  Maybe they will still ship your remander tie this week. Fingers crossed for you Danger! 😀👍

Nope - it's listed as cancelled :(

Wow. You don't see those kinds of prices too often. I picked up the Force Link 2.0 Solo Tie Fighter for $27 which is a great deal.

Yeah.  I pickup up 4 of them.  That's a crazy great deal.

It's so clear to see where the logjams occur, based on our collective understanding of the shipping/ordering/warehousing situation - but it never changes. It's like they don't have any realization that us, as consumers, want FRESH BLOODY STOCK. Why on earth do they continue to create log jams at the warehouse stage? Why don't the retailers know enough to force their hand and make the send the freshest stuff available?

Eh, it's a little like traffic light problems.  Yeah, you can get smarter traffic lights, and that might make things better during non-rush hours, but that doesn't mean there are less cars on the road at the time the traffic is heavy.

There just needs to be an adjustment on the Star Wars brand.  It obviously still popular, but not what it once was, and I suspect Hasbro is producing like it once was because Disney charged them for what it once was.

But the problem seems pretty widespread. TO be fair, Walmart has done a much better job than Toys R Us.  At least Wal-mart from timt to time is getting new waves in.

Speaking of which, I saw 5POA Val, L3-37 and Rio at a Wally in GTA yesterday.  I don't follow 5POA much - what wave is that?

Maybe they don't understand that putting repacks on the pegs is not what's helping to get product moving. Putting new stuff would greatly help. But they fail to understand.

It's how they do business with Hasbro.  Walmart doesn't order "wave 3" specific boxes.  When they hit their limiter (the number that says they need to order more 5POA figs), they order more from Hasbro.  Hasbro sends them what they have.  If Hasbro keeps sending wave 2, that's what they get.  It's dumb really, - but I can't fault Walmart that much for getting wave after wave of the same stuff from Hasbro.  I guess they could hire someone for each and every toy line to make sure they are getting refreshed waves but I don't think that expectation is realistic in any way.

The problem is more complex.  Hasbro needs to make so much of any one figure to keep costs down, but can no longer sell that much SW stuff with lack of demand.   Raising the price so they can lower the production numbers (and therefore have less pag-warmers) also won't work, because it'll just cause less toys to be bought.

The only solution is there must be a price adjustment in their costs (downward) so they can adjust the production numbers downward and still make the same money.  That means either at the factory or, as many people hope, not paying Disney quite the same $$$ for the rights next time.

I wasn't going to shill in this thread, but literally the exact opposite situation happened to me with redshift7.ca - we managed to out to a reasonable deal in the end with a very late shipment of pre-orders!

I don't care if it's all the way out in Saskatoon and I'm in the GTA.  This guy (Jay) gets basically all my business now.  I severely suggest you all have a look at what he's got to offer, though I suppose if it's 5POA stuff you are out of luck as he only carries Vintage Collection and Black Series from Hasbro, amongst other more premium collectibles.
