Wampa Cave / Stolen Star Wars Figures
« on: March 26, 2015, 08:56:16 PM »
Hi All,

I know this probably belongs in the local forum, but I'd appreciate the moderators leaving it on the main forum to get more visibility.

Our house was broken into last Thursday and pretty much all my vintage star wars figures were taken.  22 carded figures, and about 50 or so loose figures. I am posting this in the event anyone in the Montreal area, or surrounding areas, comes across someone trying to sell a large lot of vintage SW figures.  You'll find a few pictures of some of the carded figures here:

My carded and loose figures were all in extremely nice shape. Here are some of what was taken:

Carded: Boba Fett ROTJ alternate picture card MOC, cloud car pilot ROTJ unpunched MOC, Imperial Dignitary POTJ MOC, Stormtrooper ROTJ MOC, Darth Vader ROTJ Alternate picture card MOC, Teebo ROTJ unpunched MOC, Imperial Commander ESB MOC, Lando Calrissian ROTJ unpunched MOC, Nikto unpunched, Han Solo (in trench coat) unpunched, Leia in combat poncho ROTJ, cloud city guard ESB, C-3P0 W/removable limbs, Squid Head MOC, Emperor's Royal Guard unpunched, Luke Skywalker Jedi Knight, Romba POTJ MOC, Lando Calrissian in Skiff Guard Disguise MOC unpunched, General Madine MOC unpunched, 8D8 bubble mostly ripped off, AT-ST Driver MOC unpunched, Princess Leia Boushh MOC unpunched.

Loose / all complete and in very good condition: Anakin Skywalker, Blue Snaggletooth, Imperial Dignitary, Romba, Barada, Paploo, Luke in Stormtrooper Disguise, Squid Head, Han solo in trench coat, Leia in Combat poncho, Jawa, Klaatu, Klaatu Skiff Guard, Prune Face, Wicket, Teebo, Emperor's Royal Guard, Zuckuss, 4-LOM, Sand People, Greedo, Walrus Man, Snowtrooper, R5-D4, R2-D2, Luke Jedi Blue Saber, Leia Bespin, Chief Chirpa, Admiral Ackbar, TIE fighter Pilot, Luke in Hoth Battle gear...and some of the more common ones as well.

If anyone comes across a lot like this, I'd appreciate you letting me know. I know the odds are slim, but I figure its worth a shot.

Thanks guys

Pretty psyched about this!

I was under the impression UCS sets always star with ''10'' and not ''75''...nevertheless this set looks very interesting.

I read an interesting article this week, as I'm sure most of you have as well.

It appears some TVC figures will get repacked in The Black Series.  This got me thinking of what figures from past lines I'd like to see repacked in a modern collector line, either with improved paint or as it appeared in its original line.

Here's what a came up with pretty quickly:

- TVC Gamorrean Guard: No brainer.  Everyone wants multiples.

- TVC Royal Guard: Again, everyone loves this iconic red imperial. We all want at least 3.

- TLC R5-K6 (From Scamble on Yavin BP): A lot of people missed out on this guy due to the scarcity of the BP. With the release of the Biggs X-Wing and a Biggs figure, it would make sense to repack this droid and kill the outlandish prices he's going for.

- TLC Tarados Gon: With the current Geonosis packs on shelf, many of us still haven't found this guy. His entire wave was a total disaster to find. Why not throw him in the mix instead of another Clone Pilot?

- TLC HK-47: Again, no brainer. Everyone and their brother loves this droid. Many of us didn't complete it or can't afford the current markup on it.

- TLC Ugnaught II: Hard to find figure from a repack wave.  Although not my first choice, who doesn't need another tiny grey pig?

- Darth Revan: Can we finally burst the outlandish eBay prices on this one already and get him to everyone who didn't get him in 2007/08?

What do you guys think? What figures would you like to see repacked if ever TBS was to include repacks from other lines?

Video Games / The Simpsons Tapped Out

Hey Troopers,

I'm just wondering if I am the only one totally addicted to this game?

Any troopers out there playing this? If so, I need a snake egg trading buddy!

Customs / Tusken Raider Costume
« on: April 08, 2013, 01:51:31 PM »
Hi Troopers,

I've been wanting to make a SW costume for a while now.

I was curious if anyone out there attempted a Tusken Raider costume in the past? Seems like a good project for a first timer as Stormtroopers/Biker Scouts/Snowtroopers are all well beyond me (the idea of turning my bbq or oven into a plastic melting facility frightens me and would result in divorce) and I'd rather do a character I like rather then a simple costume like an imperial officer or something.  I feel the Sand People might be perfect for me

There are a variety of sites out there providing pretty good resources on building them, but I'm struggling with what types of clothing/materials to use.  I've always wanted to make one of these and am still on the fence about it due to the cost of materials and availability on them.  IE: I do not wish to remortgage my house in order to build one nor spend my weekends searching for the elusive ''Tusken raider colored'' denim in order to complete my project.

Any of you 501st guys out there try this one? Any ideas?

Thanks guys

Wampa Cave / Toronto Comic Con 2013
« on: March 04, 2013, 01:07:41 PM »
Hi All,

I'd like to know if any of the Toronto area Snowtroopers are going to this upcoming weekend's Toronto Comic Con.

I just read that Daniel Logan will be there and I'd be interested in getting an 8 x 10 signed by him if anyone is going.

I'm in Montreal and I will not be able to make down to TO this coming weekend.

If this is something you think you might be able to help me out with, please PM me and we can work out the details.

Wampa Cave / Hasbro 2013: Movie Heroes, Mission Series & Black Series 3 3/4
« on: February 02, 2013, 10:58:20 AM »
Hi guys,

Taken from a report on Jedi News UK from the Nuremberg Toy Fair:

A new line called "Mission Series" was shown. This is a 2-figure open-boxed set with a window flap. Packs on display include:
- Vader and Interrogation Droid
- Battle Droid and another character

Over in the Movie Heroes line, there is a new Vader card much smaller than normal with low-budget 3-3/4" figures that includes a tiny insert showcasing the character. Much like the Batman £6 line we saw last year. A new Ep3 Anakin figure was shown. This line is targeted towards kids on a budget. This line mirrors the budget Iron Man 3 and Ultimate Spider-Man lines that have already been seen but aren't out yet.

The Black Series 3 3/4".  The new Vader art black card style...not vintage...but same size. It is squared off with no die cut fancy shapes.  The bubble takes up nearly all the card and wraps around the edges and taped, similar to the ROTS line back in 2005. Figures on display were Anakin, Padmé and a Clone.  These appear to be the same Ep2 figures that were originally going to be in the Build-A-Droid line.

It appears the black series 3 3/4 will be replacing the cancelled droid line and TVC, movie heroes will be going CHEAP for the kiddies, and Mission series will be some sort of 2-pack. Probably see these next week at Toy Fair.

Wampa Cave / Star Wars Black Series 6'' Figures
« on: January 29, 2013, 12:23:15 PM »
New 6'' figure line...I find it funny that the Droid Factory was cancelled for being too expensive and instead they'll be doing larger, more expensive figures.  19.99 in the US...these will likely be what...29.99 in Canada?

Wave 1
Pilot Luke
Darth Maul

''The Black Series appeals to those newbies who want to start a series from the start as well as those hardcore collectors who gobble up anything having to do with the words "Jedi" or "Empire" and "are looking for something new and their interest isn't as piqued by the 15th cantina alien we have yet to do," DePriest says. "We realize folks want their iconic characters delivered up in a new way."

I am more a 3 3/4'' collector.  Interesting idea however I'd prefer having more 3 3/4'' stuff myself.  I don't think I'll be saving these...there are already a ton of star wars products out there to satisfy most collectors.  I think this is something new they're trying to see if we bite.

Anyways, they do say the the  3 3/4'' vintage line will continue under this banner...whatever that means. We'll find out more at Toy Fair.

Time will tell I suppose...

The High End: Replicas & Statues / Sideshow Commander Bly
« on: January 17, 2013, 09:20:50 AM »
Hi Guys,

I need some help here

I recently traded a bunch of of 3 3/4 star wars stuff for the 1/6th scale Sideshow Commander Bly.  I'd been thinking about getting into sideshow for a while and this was the perfect opportunity.  I know very little about sideshow stuff, just that their stuff is really cool looking.  The Bly I got was perfectly sealed and clearly had never been opened.  The skirt on Commander Bly has oil stains on someone ate some french fries and cleaned their mouth with his skirt.  Can anyone tell me if this is in fact what its suppose to look like (dirty felucia-like mess) or if his skirt is suppose to be pristine-looking?  Based on the photos I've seen on rebelscum, the skirt looks pristine.  However looking on JTA, I've noticed certain photos where there could be a ''dirty'' look to the cloth.

I was initially thinking some chemical for the plastic parts may have leaked into the fabric...but that seems unlikely...

Can anyone help me out? Does yours have a dirty look to it?

Hi All,

I just completed a transaction with Troops of Doom.  Straight paypal for figures exchange.  Very friendly, good communication and lightning fast payment. I'd recommend dealing with him to all troopers out there!  Trade with confidence!

Kraig, thanks a lot and good luck with the comic.  Loving what I read so far!

Vintage Kenner (1978-1985) / Vintage Accessories
« on: November 29, 2012, 08:54:02 AM »
Hello vintage lovers,

Any know a good place to find vintage accessories for 3 3/4" vintage and the 12" vintage?

I'm looking for a few guns, ponchos, and vehicle pieces. I used to buy from but they no longer sell toy pieces.   Bounty Hunter toys looks great but seems sold out on almost everything I need.

Being in Montreal, I'm limited to only 1 guy I know who deals in these things...hence the need to find something/someone online.

Sports / NHL Lockout Rant
« on: November 02, 2012, 12:01:49 PM »
November 2nd, 2012
Mr. Bettman, Mr. Daly, Mr. Fehr & Mr. Fehr,

Now you’ve done it. For 20 years now I have been a fanatical follower of my beloved Montreal Canadiens and the larger game of NHL hockey as a whole.  I never watched football or baseball, and basketball was never my thing. Whatever day or time, I ate, breathed , and lived for NHL hockey.  I was disappointed the last time around when a lockout forced the cancellation of an entire season, but I understood that something had to be done to save the game I love.  And did it ever.  The game grew in popularity, revenues soared and everyone was so happy that the collective bargaining agreement was extended an extra 4 years by the players union.  Owners were making money, players were making money, fans had a game they loved…so what happened?

The apathy shown to the NHL fan base during the latest NHL lockout is shameful.  I will not argue that owners are to blame, or players are to blame.  Both sides are to blame for the state of things.  I’ll boil it down to millionaires arguing with millionaires over their millions.  Do you guys have any idea how we feel in all this?  We who don’t make millions, yet spend our hard earned money on hockey tickets, jerseys and t-shirts for our wives and kids.  No.  You have no idea, and you clearly don’t care.  If you cared, you would have started talking about this last year…you would have open dialogue on a daily basis…you would not hold press conferences to inform your fan base that essentially nothing has transpired…you would silence the hardline owners and players and let the moderates talk so that sanity and compassion for the fans can help resolve this work stoppage. I don’t feel bad for any of you and I have no compassion for any of you, as you’ve clearly shown you have none for us.  I feel bad for the guy who isn’t making money in his t-shirt business or his novelty shop because no one is buying Canadiens or Leafs apparel…or the restaurant owner struggling because there’s no more game night…or the kid who isn’t as fortunate as I was when I was his age and could watch all the hockey I could digest on tv.  I guess you guys don’t see that, or don't want to.  I'm guessing if you did you might be a bit more motivated to get things done.

And if you think you’re irreplaceable, think again.  For the first time in my life I’m watching NFL football.  I never was a fan…I never took the time to understand it…but you’ve given me that time and you know what?  It’s pretty good. It fills the void nicely…and if hockey isn’t around then it may as well disappear from my life altogether.  I swear that I will not spend a cent on anything with an NHL logo on it, not now and probably never again if there is no hockey this year.  My loyalties will go elsewhere…to a league that has its affairs in order and actually sits down to discuss the issues and resolves the problems at hand. I’ll be cancelling my NHL network this evening, and that’ll be the last vestige of the NHL you see around my place…and no I won’t follow the AHL or any of the NHL stars exhibition tours around the country. I refuse to support anything related to the NHL unless you give me back the NHL.

Now…this is coming from a loyal fan of 20 years.  This is what you are doing to your fan base.  Imagine what the fans you’ve only had for 2-3 years now are thinking? For people who are paid so much and are arguing about how revenues will grow and how best to split that pie, you seem to be missing the most critical element here: Your actions are not making this game grow; their killing it. Fix it now or no one will care that you’ve fixed it later on.

In closing, this is but a simple opinion from a long time fan.  If you want to do something to make me happy, get a deal done and give me NHL hockey again.  Otherwise don’t bother me.

Scout Report / New Republic Tank
« on: August 12, 2011, 08:49:35 AM »
I was in Wal-Mart yesterday trying to take advantage of the 7.87$ price drop (to no avail!) and spotted something I'd never seen before.  It looked to be a remote controlled republic tank with a small pistol in the box.  It was in a very small box, looked to be very, very similar if not exactly the same as the republic tank with the red deco from the Legacy collection, and I believe came with a generic white clone...possibly the same one that came with the radio controlled hail fire droid.  Anyways, I figure I'd mention it in the event someone was looking for this item.  I personnally wasn't aware that such a vehicle was being offered up until last week when my buddy José told me.  I didn't really give it much attention however...I figure it'll do pretty much what the hailfire droid did...which is get ridiculously over priced and sit on the shelves for months.  Anyways, I think this one will be another flop.  It was 49.99$.
