Just started watching this show with my wife.  We have watched 4 episodes of season #1 and we love it.  Love the eighties theme/poltergeist/x-files feel of the show.   We were surprised that a lot of kids seem to be watching it - seems pretty scary for them.  Just hoping it stay as good as we move through the seasons.

Other Movies - Music - TV Entertainment / Aquaman vs. Bumble Bee
« on: December 28, 2018, 01:03:06 AM »
Aquaman is easily the best Superhero movie of the year.   Obviously better than anything Marvel has ever produced - all combined x100.   I think the best comparative movie would be Black Panther.   Everyone in the family liked Aquaman.  Best part after of course the flute playing, was when he was a little kid and the other kids were picking on him.   Both my daughter and I thought after the princess gave her long name and then said but you can call me .....she should have said  "Ariel"  with that green outfit and really red hair.   The theatre I was in everyone clapped at the end.   And the political aspect of the movie were right on point with what the world is dealing with in term of all the garbage going into the sea.   Rottentomatoes - 65%

Bumble Bee , it is OK but at the end of the day it is just another Transformer movie.  If you like them you will like this movie.  If you are getting board of them, skip it for now but give it a try for rental, because it was written by a woman and not directed by Michael Bay so it is definitely a different movie.   Rottentomatoes - 93%

Regarding the Rottentomatoes scores I really don't put much value in them now.  I think reviewers are being paid off or the system is being manipulated by outside forces.  A couple years ago I used to put a fair amount of trust in the score.  Now I find the rating to be completely wrong.   I liked both movies I saw, but no way is Bumble Bee a 93% and no way is Aquaman a 65%.  I would probably give Bumble Bee 75-80% and Aquaman 85-90%.

Wampa Cave / Fairfax has made a $300 Million bid for TOYSRUS Canada
« on: April 20, 2018, 07:42:15 AM »
Fairfax has made a $300 Million dollar bid for Toysrus Canada.  Toysrus has until Monday to hear from any other bidders.   Some of the highlights of why Fairfax has made the bid are:  unlike the USA, Toysrus Canada is a profitable business also TOYSRUS Canada owns 22 of their 82 stores, so Fairfax is buying property that is worth $250 million and only paying an extra $50 million for the business.  This bid has set the bar for other people to beat.  The bid is what is called a "stalking horse bid" which allows other potential buyers to enter competing proposals by Monday. If another bid is presented, Fairfax would then have the option of either increasing its offer or walking away.  Earlier this week TOYSRUS rejected an offer from MGA Entertainment Inc.  Cross your fingers... this maybe the deal that saves TOYSRUS Canada.

Scout Report / Gentle Giant will start producing mass market toys
« on: February 16, 2018, 08:48:57 AM »
I found this interesting, just got an email announcing Gentle Giant Ltd. expands into the mass toy market.
My first thought was that the genesis of this idea came out of the fact over the last year or so it appeared that Hasbro gave Gentle Giant a hard time over using the Kenner name on it's packaging.   And now what was once a defensive move by Hasbro has put Gentle Giant on the offence and could possibly do more damage to Hasbro market share than had they just let Gentle Giant use the Kenner logo on it's packaging.  But when you see the range of products the story could be that Hasbro got wind of the fact Gentle Giant was going into the mass consumer market and then decided they did not want a new competitor using their logo on a GG product.   Either way we get more junk to collect !!!

Wampa Cave / HASCON
« on: August 11, 2017, 06:09:00 AM »
If you are wondering why Hasbro will not be selling their SDCC exclusives this August like they traditionally do - here is the reason:

HasCon is a forthcoming annual fan convention created by Hasbro to promote its various licensed properties, including Transformers, G.I. Joe, My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, and Magic: The Gathering. It thus replaces the previous fan convention from Fun Publications, BotCon.[1] However, Fun Publications' G. I. Joe Convention continued to be held as of 2017. It was subsequently announced that the first HasCon is scheduled for September 8–10, 2017, at the Rhode Island Convention Center. Meanwhile, Summer Hayes, LLC., which organizes My Little Pony Fair convention, has announced that their convention won't be held for 2017, and would collaborate with HasCon instead.[2]

Wampa Cave / Mark Hamill disliked his role in The Force Awakens
« on: August 11, 2017, 05:55:44 AM »
Earlier this week I found a video on the internet that showed several interviews of Mark Hamill put together showing that he thought everyone had a great role in the movie but himself and he also thought that the death scene for Han was not done the way he thought it should be done.
He thought Leia and Luke should have been involved.   He said that as they did the read through he kept waiting for his entrance and it never came.  I really like his idea of when he thought he should of came in. He said when Rey was in the forest fighting and the lightsaber was flying through the air - he thought he should of been the one to grab it and save the day.  He said he did not understand how Rey with no training was able to fight with the lightsaber when she had never been to Dagobah to train. Not that he should use that as a good example since he is a Dagobah School Drop out.    I am guessing we will figure this out in the next movie and we will see why she is so good with a lightsaber.   He also said that even though a movie makes a lot of money it does not mean it was a good movie.

What does The Forest Rangers have to do with Star Wars? The Forest Rangers was a Canadian Television series that ran from 1963 to 1965.  It was produced by CBC & ITC Entertainment.   It's claim to fame is that it was Canada's first television show produced in colour.

Wampa Cave / Gentle Giant Jumbo Figures - No longer ?
« on: March 30, 2017, 09:18:31 PM »
With Hasbro producing the 6" line with Vintage Card backs - I wonder if Gentle Giant will still be able to produce their Jumbo Retro Figures with Vintage Card backs.   Hasbro seems to be wanting to milk the Vintage card backs for all they are worth.   But as the Hasbro figures get bigger they may see the Gentle Giant Jumbo figures as competition for their own lines.  I guess it depends on how much GG is willing to pay for the rights to use Kenner Vintage Card backs.

Scout Report / HMV going out of Business
« on: January 27, 2017, 10:40:56 PM »
HMV must close all stores by April 30th.  The first round of sales are everything up to 30% off.

Star Wars fans may want to watch the DC's Legends of Tomorrow: Raiders of the Lost Art episode.  It originally aired January 24, 2007.   In this episode the DC team travels back to 1967 and meets George Lucas.  We also learn where George gets the idea for one of his famous scene on the Death Star from the Star Wars a New Hope movie.    :artoo:
