Scout Report / Re: NEW STAR WARS STORE: Galactic Gift Shop
« on: October 22, 2020, 05:35:35 PM »
Sounds a lot like the Harry Potter store that opened in pickering. I took my daughter for the opening. She had fun for the opening event but the merchandise was pretty disappointing. Very little selection in kids sizes and the non clothing stuff was expensive. Hogwarts Battle game was $90. Indigo (usually pretty expensive) has it for $45. On sale it's even cheaper.

Hopefully this isn't similar in that regard.

And the biggest in Canada thing is deceiving. Its probably the only one exactly like it in Canada, hence the claim.

That's odd. I saw it on walmart.ca before but for the usual overpriced $45. Seems like a glitch and who knows if it was actually available at that price.

6" zartan and cobra trooper are on preorder on amazon for $33 as well. It seems oddly inconsistent though.

Mine was also cancelled. Disappointing.
Have I mentioned that I hate trying to track down exclusives?
I have always hated exclusives. It just seems it's at a whole other scale now. And the scarcity of some of what I would call main line items makes it even more difficult. Hopefully Beachead and Baroness (without that stupid bike would be even better) become available to regular collectors who cant spend all their waking hours hunting for toys.

Anyway, if anyone wants a mountain lion or a carpenter bee you can find them on Amazon now for February shipping. That's if they dont cancel your order.

It's nice to see on the stormshadow listingAmazon is working hard to get the item back in stock. Oh but thanks for cancelling orders so if it does come back in stock we have to be lucky enough to be online when it's available to reorder...  if they're working to get it back in stock, why cancel all the preorders???

amazon cancelled my storm shadow
Mine just got cancelled as well. I dont even care at this point. Collecting hasbro products has become extremely tiresome. Too bad since the products are so nice.

Turns out I never got the awe striker during the 25th days. So now I really want it. Hopefully can find it. My local stores dont even say they carry it. Or vintage star wars. Or retro star wars.... vaughan walmarts have been awful lately.

Walmart.ca shows it as $35.

out of stock
Yeah I've never seen it in stock. Just like almost anything I'm interested in these days.

amazon cancelled my storm shadow
Mine hasnt been cancelled yet but I've seen a few others have been. Pretty pathetic when they are the exclusive seller on that item.

Thanks for the link. That's kinda what I thought but I only sort of passively pay attention to hot wheels. And I was going through some stuff and came across my concept hot wheels and wondered.

Those character cars I never got into. I got a darth vader one since it was there and it was vader. But I still dont get how these seemed to be more ubiquitous than the ships from the actual movies.

Anyway nothing to hunt down for the moment I guess, which is not a bad thing.

So is Hot Wheels still making SW ships? The ones similar to the old titanium line? And did they ever do a series 2 of the  concept ships?  The first 5 had "series 1" marked on the packaging. I've not heard anything about a series 2.

I used to order from BBTS all the time. Then they got really big and jacked up their prices on everything. They used to charge retail, but now they add a couple bucks premium on everything. And suddenly I got hit by customs on everything I ordered from them where as I never used to.

I dont mind ordering from them on occasion but it depends on the item(s). And you're right the hunt is a pain.

As for CC, I passed. It's a fugly design that represents nothing to me. Never saw it in the comics, it's not a remake. Not worth the premium. I realize it's supposed to be over the top but I dont like it so i passed. I have to remain selective with this line. It's expensive enough getting the ones i like so I skip the rest.

it looks like intelcom lost my parcel with the 3 Power droids
He's still available on amazon if you want to cover yourself just in case. Ships in 1 to 2 days.

I don't think it is the case.  I had the same reaction you did.  It is harder to see the graphics.  Not sure why they did it.  I just wanted to get you excited about it - if only for a few seconds of thinking you had the $300 version everyone is hunting for.   :luke: :P
Haha you tease! I wouldnt have been surprised. Though I was surprised when I opened the parcel. I dont think they gave any indication of this finish.

I managed to order a wampa. It just arrived already and in perfect condition. I must say I'm disappointed in the vintage packaging though. They went and gave it that silvery reflective finish. I hate it when they make the packaging "special" like that. The reflection really takes away from the vintage aesthetic.  :speechless-smiley-004:

What if I told you only have a 1 in 10 chance of getting the silvery reflective finish vs. the regular finish.  Are you excited about it now?
Ha if that is the case I suppose it could be a nice bonus if I decided to sell it. Otherwise no, it still kinda ruins the look. For the same reason prefer no glare glass when framing photos and posters.

Is that actually the case though? The only in hand photos I've seen online have the reflective finish. All non-reflective images are the Hasbro press photos.
