I think their algorithms will now presell an item they're likely to get in stock until they've pre sold up to some quantity (maybe 90%of the order,  who knows), then if the pre sells happened quickly enough they jack the price on the remaining pre sells to 3x the original price.

More than ever we can't afford to be passive collectors when it comes to online hunting or we will literally pay the price.

No, I checked, they're Amazon.ca prices. Pretty scalpy of them.

Scout Report / Star Wars Drones & Droids $60 at Best Buy
« on: October 17, 2018, 01:55:49 PM »
2 Day Sale, ends Oct.18.  The 3 Propel Drones (X Wing, Vader TIE and Speeder Bike) and 4 Sphero Droids (R2-D2, R2-Q5, BB-9E and BB-8) all on for $59.99 each.

At release, all of these were roughly $300.  The prices have come down substantially since but this is the lowest I've seen them and I'd be amazed if they went any lower prior to Christmas.

Note - on the Propel Drones, it may sound funny but the box itself is almost worth the $60. You get a full sound and light show when opening the box that then turns into a display case.

That's interesting. Now Amazon.ca has jacked the falcon, XWing and TIE protos to just over $20 while the land speeder and star destroyer are still at $6.99. Once again we're at the mercy of their algorithms.

I see amazon.ca has listings not only for the Hot Wheels Prototype Falcon X-Wing and  TIE, but now also the Star Destroyer and Landspeeder.  All of them are listed as out of stock but they are orderable at $6.99 apiece.

I doubt they'll reopen u.s  stores, they just finished clearing out remaining stock and store fixtures. I could see them doing popup stores during Christmas season or in areas that were consistently lucrative.

I wonder if Hasbro will try to jack the price of the barge due to Trump's tariffs on China. Also wondering if it would affect just the Barges ordered in the USA or would Canadian orders be affected as well. If the Canadian orders never touch American soil I'd think we should be clear regardless?

The TIE Fighter storyteller ornament was released yesterday (Falcon was released in July), so now that just leaves the Y-Wing which will come out in 2019. The TIE looks great in person.

I forgot to mention, if you do buy a storyteller ornament or two, ask at the hallmark store whether or not there is a promo where they throw in a free keepsake power cord. There was a promo when I bought the 3 last year and I got another when I bought the falcon this year (you only need 1 cord but free is free). That cord not only powers the ornaments but it's also how they communicate to each other. It's essential and otherwise would cost~$15. It is not the same power cord that was sold in previous years.

I've picked up most of the hallmark ornaments since they started in 1996 with the exception of the convention exclusives.  The storyteller ornaments are definitely the coolest from a gadget standpoint and the story they play out when they're all connected takes your Christmas tree to the next level. I'd recommend them.

The death star tree topper (lights + sound + remote control) and the force is strong tree skirt (lights only no sound) are pretty spiffy too.

Toys R Us appears to be the place to go for the latest Hot Wheels Starships.  Finally picked up the Solo Imperial Patrol Speeder today to complete that wave (got the 1st Order AT-ST, B-Wing, AT-TE previously).

Scout Report / Solo BluRay Release Came & Went...
« on: September 27, 2018, 12:31:14 PM »
I'm used to seeing some new product or at least restocking of existing product when a new SW movie is released in theaters and then again on Blu-Ray. Did anyone see any noticeable extra product this week (beyond the disc itself) for the Solo Blu-Ray release?

Kind of disappointing!
