TVC - Jabba's sail Barge!!!!!
« on: February 17, 2018, 03:14:52 PM »

Oh my God... they are actually doing it.

https://www.hasbrolab.com/      Link fixed! - JJ

Sadly for now it appears shipping is only continental U.S.
I would back it in a heartbeat if they extend to Canada.

Sail Barge will be around $2000.00U.S. aftermarket price on places like eBay.  I could see a lot of serious U.S. collectors buying a couple of these at least.....I know I would.

This is why I try not to invest in the '3.75 inch 5POA crap' because there will be some awesome stuff coming soon.

I have contacts at various places in the US as well as an aunt with a Michigan post office box. Anyone wanting to register to order, do it - we can figure out exactly how we'd get them back from the US down the road.

They actually require a US billing address matching your payment as 1st checkout step (usually can go around this with paypal but couldn't figure it out, if anyone has ideas...)

I'd be down for pre-ordering one... I have wanted to own the Khetanna since I was a kid.  I watched and rewatched the Jabba sequence until the VHS tape got messed up, and to see that we cannot back this simply because we are in Canada is heartbreaking.  Even if it gets made, the after-market scalper price will be astronomical.  I can't really afford it at the $500 USD plus shipping tag, but I would still find a way at that price... advance birthday money, dip into savings, whatever.

Just...  such a bittersweet thing. :(

Maybe if Hasbro gets the 5000 US orders, this will allow them to begin operations on the the Sail Barge , and then will open up orders Internationally.
Here's to hoping. :D

5000 x $500 = $2,500,000.00  US,  let's get our customers to pay us to develop products, let them pay for the production of the product, packaging and distribution.   And let's make a profit while doing it.

I would suggest they'll offer the product otherwise for sure - but that it will be a "gutted" version - like the hollow big X-Wing. Just my guess.

I agree with JR... the international version, if it comes, would be gutted, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I think quite the opposite.  I don't need the Jabba, or the 2-seat cockpit area (they can just seal that off), they can go with cheaper materials for the sails if possible (or heck, use paper for all I care) or even the Ithorian skeleton.

If it either brings down the final price, or allows for a retailer in Canada or the UK to be able to get it for a "low" wholesale cost that they'll agree to carry it, then that's great.

More importantly, imagine what would happen if the international version were the exact same thing as the initial crowd-sourced version, and then the retailer sold it for less than $500?  Then the next time HasLab tries to propose something, everyone would just sit back and wait for the international/retailer one.

My feeling is that the crowd-sourced version should always be the "deluxe" model. It comes with all the bells and whistles and is the ultimate version. Those who can afford it, can go for it. Those who only want to spend $300, have to wait and take their chances.  Even then, those that make it to some international retailer or online store, will probably be relatively low in quantity, and that prevents people from just "waiting for clearance" to snap it up. The retailer makes a profit, sees a demand, and would be willing it to order other future HasLab products again.

Win-win?  I hope so.  I want a Death Star playset dang it.  And a big Shuttle Tyderium too!

Those who'd like to order it join the discussion, Longueuil pick-up seems like a pretty good idea to me:
