The SDCC 2018 Star Wars thread
« on: July 13, 2018, 10:18:46 PM »

Well folks, it's here.  And you know Hasbro is going to shower us with wonderful, 3.75" super-articulated Star Wars figures that are brand new sculpts and long-requested characters. And the distribution will be far better this time around, to boot.

I thought we should have a thread to discuss forthcoming SDCC reveals.  Let's gather together what's trickling through Disney's iron gates at the con...

Yakface report on the Hasbro Friday presentation
http://yakfaceforums.com/main/2018/07/20/sdcc-2018-hasbro-collecting-panel/

Some great pics of the 3.75" scale figures and the new playsets (display sets) here:

The Kessel display set is $30US, Walmart exclusive (so we'll probably never see it here)
The Vandor display set is $40US, Target exclusive (so maybe EB Games in Canada?)

- TVC Jedi Luke on Crait (as hinted at by Yakface over here: http://yakfaceforums.com/main/2018/07/13/hot-toys-16-scale-luke-skywalker-crait-tease/)
- 3-pack SDCC exclusive (Alphra and the droids)
- SOLO playset of some kind in the $45 price range
- TVC Imperial Assault Tank Driver (http://yakfaceforums.com/main/2018/07/14/vintage-collection-wave-2-images/afaba39a-316c-498f-a4f9-f0e4aab6c7a5/)

- TVC Enys Nest (http://yakfaceforums.com/main/2018/07/14/vintage-collection-wave-2-images/bf96d8d9-82ed-4fcc-8573-e6e3fc439ef7/)

I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the Solo figures hinted at in the Force link 2.0 update. The aliens and troopers have caught my eye.

"Begun the Tariff Wars have" - that made me smile napseeker . :)

By the way, why do I not have a wookie any more above my statement
"When all else fails send in the Wookie" ?

Ah, when you originally set up the profile image, was this a link to an image that was hosted on a website?  It's possible that the website has removed the image from its server, which would explain why the wookie pic is no longer there.

It could just be the Force's way of telling you it's time to choose a new avatar pic :D

Looks like a few avatars didn't survive the server move. Might have to go into your profile & reset things or choose a new photo.

Eager to see what else they'll reveal!

*As far as avatars go, the ''select one from gallery'' option has 0 options and if I try to copy a URL link doesn't work when I save the profile

Let me work on it. If I can get it working I'll post instructions. Maybe Napseeker can enlighten us as his proud Porg seems to have survived the cull.  :rollfloorlaffsmiley:

I have never been able to create an avatar for myself.  If anyone can help, let me know.

So far preview night not bad (especially Hot Toys).

yakface.com just released a TVC ''rumor'' list for 2019.
Hopefully we'll see many of them this weekend.

Saw on Instagram that there is a 6" Shoretrooper coming out.  I think that was his name, it's the Imperial on that speeder bike at the beginning of the Solo movie.

Yakface report on the Hasbro Friday presentation

http://yakfaceforums.com/main/2018/07/20/sdcc-2018-hasbro-collecting-panel/

It'll be interesting to see how well the photoreal face printing works on 4" scale. So does this mean that the re-releases of Hoth Leia, Bespin Luke, ANH Han, etc. are getting the photoreal face treatment?   Or would this only apply to truly new figures and not repacks?

The answer to that question is probably that they will be pure repacks with no alterations (since Hasbro had previously said that the way they have to account for things is that a repack can't be altered except to tighten up sloppy paintwork). I'm not sure if an improved face painting process is something that Steve could convince the beancounters to treat as just fixing sloppy paint since the new process could be more expensive than how the faces were traditionally painted.

Just so glad the Death Star Gunner is all-new and not a repack, and seems to have a more accurate chest armor/vest thing.  I wonder if he'll still have a removable helmet.
