No, I checked, they're Amazon.ca prices. Pretty scalpy of them.

Hmm yeah you're right. Amazon is so odd. When I first found these pages they showed up at about $20 but if  looked down the page I could click to get another option and it took me to the 6.99 price. My initial searches were taking me to a third party seller. I thought maybe that was what was happening for you.

Hopefully the price will drop again at some point. And hopefully they will actually get stock!!

I think their algorithms will now presell an item they're likely to get in stock until they've pre sold up to some quantity (maybe 90%of the order,  who knows), then if the pre sells happened quickly enough they jack the price on the remaining pre sells to 3x the original price.

More than ever we can't afford to be passive collectors when it comes to online hunting or we will literally pay the price.

Amazon just cancelled my order for the prototype tie fighter. They haven't canceled my orders for any of the other prototype ships... yet.

Really annoying. Have these surfaced anywhere in Canada? And how plentiful have they been in the US?

Not impressed with hot wheels distribution in my experiences. Anytime they pique my interest ( pop culture cars, various time) it is virtually impossible to find what I am looking for. Worse than hasbro.

The only "new" Hot Wheels I've seen are the Solo ships. Maxi & Cie just received a huge pile of them in Pointe-Claire.

Still looking for the concept hot wheels ships. Still no sign of them here is Canada.

Saw some hot wheels toy fair pictures and all they showed were those character cars. Don't really get the appeal of those, but I guess that's what is working for mattel.  :confused0024:

I would love to buy the concept ships of they could get them into stores.

Amazon.com (a 3rd party seller to be exact) has a 39.99 usd deal right now for a set of hot wheels concept ships,  you'll get the set of 5 plus 2 extra star destroyers and an extra landspeeder.

Not the best price but you get them all in one shipment so that helps.

She ended up being $69.96 CAD for the 8, that includes shipping and import fee deposit.

Price is now down to 29.99 for the concept case. I finally went for it.

Read an interview online from toy fair. Concept vehicles were apparently successful. Not sure how well they were distributed in the US but I guess some folks were able to find them.

But the concept line is discontinued until at least after episode 9 is done. So maybe next year there will be more but nothing planned.

Anyway I'm looking forward to getting these now. ☺

Star Wars Hot Wheels as a product line seem to be effectively dead in Canada. The latest I've seen are the solo carships 2nd wave and that was in late 2018.

It's odd because Mattel has an sdcc star wars hot wheels exclusive this year (mouse droid) but their entire line is effectively a 3rd party scalper or ebay exclusive because we can't actually acquire their product any other way.

If hot wheels was supposed to be Mattel's way of showing Disney that they can beat Hasbro at their own game and that they're worthy of a star wars license, they had a good start but at this point they've failed.

I don't follow Hot Wheels so I don't know about current releases in concept vehicles, starships, and character cars, but I did notice some "new-to-me", but maybe not everyone else character cars recently at a Super Store.

They had a Vader, Jedi Luke, and a Stormtrooper each with a weapon play action feature.  The cars are the same size as the normal Hot Wheels, but each have a moveable weapon that I think is attached to the underside.  (I didn't exactly take too close of a look.)

No idea what this means for the other Hot Wheel lines or the overall health of the line in Canada.

Receiving new Star Wars toys doesn't seem to be much of a priority for stores these days.

Found the Commemorative line of Hot Wheels Starships at a TRU - 11.99. Currently there are 5 ships out for episodes I-V and 4 more coming this fall. Each starship comes with a Death Star piece so you can assemble a Death Star if you collect all 9. The multilingual packaging is a lot more cluttered than the US English versions.
