Star Wars Resistance
« on: October 08, 2018, 12:11:00 AM »

Just noticed Showcase is running a SW marathon. TFA is on tonight. But tomorrow sandwiched in between ROTJ and TFA at what looks to be about 6:15pm on my PVR is the debut of Resistance. Looks to be a 1 hr premiere.

I'm not exactly clamoring for new SW in this era. Especially after TLJ and how much of a tool Poe Dameron was, this seems like an odd choice to focus a series on. Anyway I'm definitely going to check it out.

Wanted to give folks a heads up as I just stumbled upon this. Star Wars cartoon on Showcase... odd but welcome.

I'm not sure if it's available in Canada yet, but the Disney streaming app has apparently launched & will allow users to see the first 3 episodes of Resistance. I haven't gone there yet.

It actually premiered last night on the Disney Channel here. It's also starting this Saturday on Disney XD at 7:30 PM.

I believe it's on showcase aswell tonight. Channel 39 in Ontario (Rogers cable).  They have a Star Wars marithon playing all weekend.

What app are you referring to?  The streaming service won't be until 2019.

I was able to watch one episode.  Really waiting for several seasons to finish before I get into it.  Unfortunately the episode I saw was the one where the alien pilot found a pet and it kept causing all kinds of trouble.  If the other episodes are this bad, I may skip this show completely.

I haven't so much as seen a snippet. I guess I'll try to binge them once the season discs are available, but nothing I've read is making me very hopeful.

I've watched a few episodes and the rest are sitting on my PVR waiting to be watched. The first few episodes have not inspired me to spend the time watching the rest. I don't hate it or anything but it just feels kinda forgettable.
While I like the actual animation well enough the lanky character designs leave a lot to be desired. I guess it goes with the sort of bumbling comedic tone of the series, which I don't really care for.

I'll watch the rest eventually but I'm in no rush.

Was there any coverage of this series at Celebration? If there was I can see how it would get lost among episode 9 and the Mandalorian.  But I haven't seen anything. And will the toys be continuing?

I watched about half the episodes then skipped to the final 2.
The episode where Yeager has to race against his brother and the final 2 were probably the best.
The final 2 episodes really tie the TV show and TFA together and give you a deeper view of the First Order's tyranny.
The show is too Disneyesque for me.
The main character bugs the poodoo out of me there was a scene where Kax first starting exploring the Colossus and I could have sworn he would break into a musical number
I give the show a 5 out of 10.

There was a little bit on it, including a preview of the next season, but I skipped it as I haven't seen the first season
