Now, just to top it all off, we find we have no hot water!  Gotta book another service man.
If your water heater is gas heated, your pilot light could be off..or since they changed your furnace...they shut off the gas supply to the water tank as well....could be in the closed position. Sounds to coincidental that both your furnace and water tank go at the same time.

I think you are probably right.  The pilot light on my furnace went out when they were doing the furnace on Monday.  Perhaps the flame on the water heater gave out as well although we had hot water this morning when I had my shower.
I don't like poking around at it myself - rather wait for the service man.

Hopefully it's a quick & easy fix! What a pain!

I found out what the problem is.  My water heater has a sensor to detect flammable fumes.  If it does, it shuts off.

After we had our furnace installed, I repainted the concrete floor with an oil based paint.  I had a heater going to help dry the paint and apparently it created enough fumes to knock out the water heater.  I am now attempting to clear the air by opening windows and turning on fans.  Hopefully by tomorrow we can get it functioning again.

Well that actually sounds like a good thing - if there was a chance those fumes could ignite I'm happy it did its job! Hopefully it's sorted out asap.

Back to -41 this morning where I live. I was told that my town was the 3rd coldest place in the world today. No wonder the clutch on my car was so stiff this morning, and I even parked it in the garage!

Minus 14 here in Sunny Mississauga this morning - minus 21 with the wind chill.  All systems are go - had a lovely warm shower.

Going to blow another few inches out of the lane. Feels like -19 with another 10-15 cm for tomorrow.

Got the last of my major home repairs completed this morning.  We had a hairline crack in the concrete foundation that was leaking.  I had it patched and filled by a pro.

Hopefully I can now get back to resetting my Star Wars displays and getting my room back in order.

For the rest of the day today I have been shovelling the 30 cm of snow that fell overnight.  There are a few more flurries outside right now!

Southern Ontario is certainly getting a dose of winter. Sorry I'm missing it....  :winking0071:

Just a balmy, sunny -41 out here in Regina with the wind factored in.

Woohooo! It is like tropical weather now, only -19 today. It is funny how a person gets used to the cold and when it goes to -20 it really isn't that bad.
