Stranger Things
« on: July 20, 2019, 11:56:34 PM »

Just started watching this show with my wife.  We have watched 4 episodes of season #1 and we love it.  Love the eighties theme/poltergeist/x-files feel of the show.   We were surprised that a lot of kids seem to be watching it - seems pretty scary for them.  Just hoping it stay as good as we move through the seasons.

It's one of the reasons we still have Netflix.  You won't be disappointed with any of the seasons.

Loved season 1. Found season 2 disappointing yet still enjoyable. Season 1 set the bar fairly high. I won't say why I was disappointed so as not to spoil anything.

I've only just started season 3.

Loved Stranger Things.  Haven't started season 3 yet though.  Outside of the Marvel series, I can't really think of a Netflix show that I've liked more.  Maybe The Haunting of Hill House, or Mindhunter.

My wife and I love it as well. 😀👍
We are slowly watching season 3 now, episode 4 I think.
If it was up to Jen, she would have us binge watch the whole season in one weekend...lol , I want it to last the summer at least.
To me, this show would be on par with movies like “Goonies” and “Standbyme” that we watched in the 80s.

To JJ and Ian T. Thanks so much for helping me get back on Snowtrooper.ca

Our pleasure (oh, and we need all hands on deck here, no more slacking   :rollfloorlaffsmiley:  ).

Love Stranger Things. For me, as a life long fan of X-Men, I found the culmination of season 2 to be about the best version of a young Jean Grey learning to deal with her powers I've ever seen. Jaw dropping sequence.

Stranger Things is great. I love all the 80's stuff. I feel a real connection to this show I think because of all the era it is set in. I can't wait for more.

This is one of the few shows I watch. Just finished season 3. I have enjoyed all of the seasons.

The plot and characters are great, but the little things use it over the top. I loved, in episode 1 of season 3, when Eleven was using her powers to move Dustin's toys, seeing old toys that I used to have, especially the Ultra Magnus (which was my favourite transformer toy that I had growing up).

We are watching the 2nd season.  Not making this up - the older 11 with short curly hair - looks exactly like what my wife looked like at her age.

I watched the whole series. Love the Milleninum Falcon in it . Too bad they used the wrong version in there. At least i think the one in the show was the POTF2 one.

I was yelling at the screen during that episode - "Noooooo  don't make him throw out his old Star Wars toys " .   They should of had a Vinyl Cape Jawa that he threw in the box.

Not as bad a That 70s Show where the Millennium Falcon was the POTFII Carrying Case. Each time it came on the screen I'd grumble.

Darth Cujo - I am into season 3 now - what did you not like in Season 2 ?
I am guessing they do not resolve season 3 in season 3 - like they did in season 1 and season 2.  I think I am on episode 5 of season 3 - 11 just beat up Billy - that is where I am up to.  Not sure how they can resolve everything so quickly.

spoilers for season 2...

For season 2 I felt like it was a rehash of season 1. The mystery wasn't as engaging and I felt like it all was just a do-over and just led up to El saving the day again.

And I didn't understand the build up of max and her crazy older brother. I thought there was going to be some tie into the whole conspiracy or something. Felt like a red herring with no real payoff. Maxes brother was just a bully. I suppose season 3 brings a little payoff for those characters, and I don't think that spoils anything for anyone. Their characters get more fleshed out in season 3,  which I finally got around to watching last week.

Overall season 2 just felt lacking. Season 3 I enjoyed much more. I feel like they're back on track. I'm looking forward to season 4.
