Talking ToyFair 2020
« on: February 21, 2020, 07:28:31 PM »

The big weekend is here... let's get ready to see what Hasbro has to unleash on SW collectors at ToyFair.

This first one is a nice surprise, the continuation of the retro vintage figure line with a nice Snowspeeder Luke!

That accessory is awesome! Not sure if it will be enough to get me to spend, but I do like it at first glance.

Hmmm. The upcoming ESB 3.75" retro card figures are going to be Walmart exclusives only?  Perhaps in Canada, they will still be picked up by TRU though.  They seemed to sell very well up here.

Nice to see a TVC reissue of Slave 1 with I think some improvements (better paintjob including the underside). There's a transparent stand that lets you display the vehicle in its vertical position.  But with a $150 pricetag... I'll have to go hunt down some bounties to afford that one.

TVC gets one new figure, Gonk. A re-release of the 3-pack Jedi Luke.  Wow, the drought for 3.75" scale continues.

Nice to see a $120US Snowspeeder + Zak for the 6-inch scale. Not sure if I'd get it since that would eat up a lot of display space.

I only collect 3 3/4, so this was disappointing for me. I have the Jedi Luke figure and am not that excited about the Power Droid. Itís nice, but it seems like a pretty simplistic figure to be paying full price for. Slave 1 is really nice, but I really donít pay a whole lot of attention to the ships I already own. I would have absolutely loved it when I was 9, but itís just not the same when Iím middle aged! I will get the retro Snowspeeder Pilot Luke if I can find him to go with my old Kenner figures from my childhood, but thatís about it. Too bad there wasnít more new product, but I guess the plus side is that I will be saving a lot of money!

In a way I am kind of glad there's again not too much on the horizon for Star Wars collecting at the moment, in either scale. Because there's TONS coming for Marvel Legends - that line is gonna drain my bank account again this year!

Wow. Overall not that great.

Black series has only a few new figures. They look great of course. And the snowspeeder is pretty cool. But I'll be skipping most of the vintage repacks. I went all in and collected a set of 40th SW figures to keep moc. Can't do that anymore. Too much money, take up too much space. I'll pick up a couple to keep carded but not the whole set.

TVC is a massive let down. Nothing new. At all.

Even if 6" is the money maker and 3.75 is on the back burner the fact that they have nothing new at all is still mind boggling. Just shows how clueless they are when it comes to old fans. Why even bother?

But, there are 3 untitled figures in each of the new waves around fall and Christmas.
The Gonk Droid and Luke Jedi are the only 2 that have been shown or named.

Apparently the Vc #s are shown on etailers websites.  I believe repacks of VC #s 75,  89, 90 then #s 94, 95, 96.

Well there was the Gonk Power Droid... and the Retro Stuff.

Also note that there were 2 waves of stuff announced already long before that.

So underwhleming?  Yes.  But not really nothing new at all.

The Snowspeeder for $150 with Dak is a better buy than the FO TIE Fighter (with the Pilot) at $200.  Easily.  It will sell.

Hope this rumor is true, because I was so disappointed about the last news from Hasbro ToyFair....

Now I know that Hasbro ins't interested by my money !

If Luke in Stormtrooper armor is on the vintage card it will at least cross one more off the re-made vintage cards list.

I already feel helpless re. the ESB 40th 6" stuff - there is literally no way I'll be able to say no to those items if I see them in person.  :speechless-smiley-004:
