Toys R Us came to Canada in 1984. Before that, Toy City (owned by Consumers Distributing) was king. I always preferred Toy City to Toys R Us.

Does anyone remember when the West Edmonton Mall opened. Right across from Fantasy Land was a Toy City. (now where the go-carts are) There was a huge Lego spaceship on display and each time it rotated you'd see even more awesome details. Went through it with my parents and thought I would cry there were so many awesome things. Walked out with a Lego set and a couple figures. I could have spent all day there watching that Lego ship and exploring every aisle.
